Manager of Permanent Supportive Housing, Robin Craddock talks about what Permanent Supportive Housing is and why it matters.
As of September 1 we’re excited to celebrate the launch or our Permanent Supportive Housing Program. We’ll be working to house 50 chronically homeless households providing case management and supportive services - all the things people need to get housed and stay of the streets permanently.
From the National Alliance to End Homelessness: “ Investments in permanent supportive housing have helped decrease the number of chronically homeless individuals by 8 percent since 2007. In addition to ending homelessness for people who are chronically homeless, research has demonstrated that permanent supportive housing can also increase housing stability and improve health.
A cost-effective solution, permanent supportive housing has been shown to lower public costs associated with the use of crisis services such as shelters, hospitals, jails and prisons.”
To lead in our efforts, Robin Craddock will be moving into the roll of Manager of Permanent Supportive Housing. Many of you already know Robin, since she’s been on the housing team since August of 2021, but we’re excited to see her move into this new position.
Robin has a great deal of experience in housing. She has worked at both Metrocare Services, where she served as the Leasing Coordinator for several years and before that the Housing Operations Coordinator. Additionally, she spent several years working with clients at Austin Street Center and before that at Orphan Hugs in Kenya, Africa where she helped vulnerable children have food, shelter and education.
