Volunteer Highlight - Bea

Why do you love The Stewpot?
I love The Stewpot because it has a variety of programs that assist our homeless and at-risk neighbors by not only providing for their basic needs, but also providing avenues for them to start a new life. I believe in the proverb "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime" and The Stewpot does a great job of teaching our clients to 'fish' through case management and other enrichment programs. I love serving with our fellow volunteers through meal service at The Stewpot's Second Chance Cafe and working at the Food Distribution site. I also recently joined The Stewpot Alliance and have enjoyed working alongside fellow board members who work very hard behind the scenes to further the mission by raising awareness and funds for The Stewpot initiatives. There are many ways to get involved with The Stewpot that can fit any schedule.

How long have you been volunteering at The Stewpot

I have been volunteering since 2014.

Is there a specific experience you’ve ad at The Stewpot that has changed your life?

The first time one of our Stewpot clients recognized and said hello to me while I was walking around downtown was a reminder that The Stewpot clients truly are our neighbors and we should all be doing our part to look after our neighbor
