The Stewpot provides services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, as well as to children and families who are at-risk.

There have been some changes to our services including calendar changes and policy changes. See below for details.

The information below is for those experiencing and at risk of homelessness; for information on our Children & Youth and Family Stabilization programs for at-risk children and families - including our food distributions - please click here. NOTE: the food distribution is grocery and pre-made type items that must be prepared in a kitchen. You must have a residence in order to receive this service.

To those experiencing and at risk of homelessness, we are offering a modified set of services at our main location at 1822 Young Street, Dallas, Texas 75201 (see map below).

Appointments are limited. The Stewpot does not provide casework services or make appointments over the telephone. 

We also offer three meals a day, 365 days at year at The Second Chance Café within The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center at 1818 Corsicana Street, Dallas, Texas 75201. Please contact The Bridge for information and eligibility requirements.

Description of Services Currently Available:

  • Identification Documentation assistance is provided by Stewpot caseworkers who can order school records, marriage licenses, birth certificates and other vital records to help clients obtain identification documentation. It is provided for people experiencing homelessness only. Please bring as much identifying information as possible. Clients are eligible for this assistance once per year and three times within a five year period. Stewpot ID's are also available.

  • We have made changes to our ID Vital Records program, so read carefully for the service time updates. ID and Vital record assistance for new clients  is provided Monday through Wednesday beginning at 1 PM. The number of participants will be limited. Returning Clients in need of follow-up will be seen Monday through Thursday at 8 AM. The number of participants will be limited. All clients must wear a face mask over mouth and nose at all times for any services.

  • A Document Bank is also available for vital record storage. Details at intake desk.

  • Representative Payee Program provides financial management for beneficiaries of Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits who have been deemed by the Social Security Administration to require a payee. Applicants must have a letter from Social Security stating the requirement of a payee.   • Health & Wellness Services includes an on-site barrier-free medical clinic for individuals experiencing homelessness run by Parkland Hospital (walk-in basis); mental health services provided by Metrocare (walk-in basis and by appointment at 214.939.3933); eye exams; and a dental clinic (sign up for same-day appointments at The Stewpot intake desk). Parkland Medical and Dental Clinics are open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 3:30 PM. Program service times are subject to change. Please visit the intake desk to sign up for services.

  • Mail Distribution is available. Government or Stewpot ID is required to collect mail. Mail pick up is available Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Mail will be held for 10 business days. Please see the package policy HERE.

All programs and casework services - except Meal Services - are provided at the First Presbyterian Church Community Ministries Building, 408 Park Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75201, located at the corner of Young Street and Park Avenue in downtown Dallas.
