The Dallas Morning News Charities visited the art program at the Stewpot. Charles Williams is a client of the Stewpot and a natural artist. They spoke to Charles about his life on the street and how the art program has helped him find himself. The Stewpot is one of 23 recipients of the DMN charities.
One of the best known and most beloved Stewpot programs, the Art Program is a community outreach program serving the homeless and at-risk populations of Dallas. It is open to people looking for an environment to express and create through the medium of art.
Help is needed in procuring art supplies, including acrylic paints, stretched canvas, drawing pads, brushes, and jewelry making supplies. Picture frames in the following sizes are needed: 16” X 20” & 18” X 24”.
The members of the Stewpot Art Program are usually self-taught artists and paint in various styles. This is a small selection of the work by Stewpot artists. The artist receives 90% of the sale (minus sales tax) and 10% goes to the art program for supplies and field trips for the artists. The Stewpot Art Program is on Instagram @stewpotdallasart.
